Mechanical Technician

Under the guidance of the Director of Manufacturing, this position performs a variety of functions in a manufacturing capacity. These duties include but are not limited to developing, revising, and editing CAD drawings for fabricated products, partnering with consulting firms on the 5+process and drawing design, troubleshooting and evaluating design inefficiencies and providing support to the ATF division, researching parts and sourcing for procurement, assisting in machining department as required. Key Relationships:

Internally: Director of Manufacturing, Manufacturing Manager, Divisional Supervisor, Technical Sales Manager(s), Materials Manager, Sales/Customer Service Representative(s), Manufacturing staff.

Externally: Consultant Firms, Suppliers, Clients, and Customers.

Qualifications:

Education Essential:

  • College diploma in Mechanical Technologist or equivalent experience.

Knowledge Essential:

  • 3+ years’ experience working within a manufacturing or industrial application environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering designs, machining, and repairs.
  • Proficiency in mechanical design, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
  • Willingness to perform mechanical maintenance and repairs.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the APC Divisional Supervisor to develop, design and review
    product CAD design layouts. 
  • Assist in researching and coordinating the bill of materials (BOM) for APC
    applications. 
  • Act as the liaison between the APC division and manufacturing group on all
    product designs: 
                        a) Develop and design all product CAD drawings for full-back rollers.
                        b) Review and make edits as necessary based on customer specifications.
                        c) Provide final drawing to APC Supervisor for sign off, before being released to production.

                        d) Follow up or provide assistance to the APC Supervisor on questions from the production floor.

  • Liaison with the Manufacturing Manager and APC Supervisor on completing time
    studies and analysis for products and applications being reviewed for the APC
    division. 
  • Support and liaison with the APC Supervisor on the development of APC products
    by looking at the parameters and constraints on machinery (i.e., Dilo, resign
    treatment, cutting) and providing research results and recommendations.
    6. Research and source parts for the designs and create requisitions for approval.
    7. As required, provide support to the manufacturing group.
Mental Effort Required to Perform the Job:
  • Frequent mental attentiveness is required when reviewing, designing, and editing
    mechanical drawings.
    ➢ Frequent reading of mechanical designs, numbers, and text.
    ➢ Frequent mental effort is required in multi-tasking and handling interruptions that
    require constant refocusing.
    ➢ Frequent levels of concentration required for accuracy when partnering with a consulting firm(s) on process design and improvement.
Physical Effort Required to Perform the Job:
  • Stationary at a workstation. 
  • Requires physical effort when working within the manufacturing environment with
    manufacturing staff. 
  • Requires manual dexterity, speed, and hand/eye coordination to work on the
    computer.
Responsibility for Resources:
  • Responsible for work area. 
  • Responsible for all the filing of CAD drawings. 
  • Responsible for coordination of APC product design and development.
Responsibility for Decision Making:
  • Providing recommendations and analysis to solve problems and improve
    efficiencies.
Working Conditions:
  • Frequently working in a climate-controlled office. 
  • Frequently working at a stationary workstation assigned by a supervisor. 
  • Occasionally working within a manufacturing environment.
