Shipping and Fabrication Assistant

Under the guidance of the Manufacturing Manager, the position performs a variety of shipping and fabrication support tasks. These duties include but are not limited to; shipping/receiving assistance for the facility, picking, packing, and shipping all resale products, support the quality inspection with keeping it stocked and cleared, as well as assisting in any other fabrication duties as assigned.

Key Relationships:

Internally: Manufacturing Manager, Production Coordinator, Shift Supervisor, Shipper/Receiver, Sales Team, Production Staff.

Externally: Freight Forwarders

Qualifications:

Education Essential:

  • Completion of high school diploma

Knowledge Essential:

  • 3+ years’ experience in manufacturing.
  • Previous hands-on experience with forklifts, pump trucks, etc.
  • Previous experience using Microsoft Office and ERP systems. 

Skills and Abilities Essential:

  • Ability to work independently and cohesively with employees and managers as part of a team.
  • Accurate and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure with simultaneous deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workflow, to meet delivery dates.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure with simultaneous  deadlines.
  • Ability to pack and unpack boxes, cover rolls, and load, and unload trucks.
  • Health and Safety aware to minimize risk of injury from equipment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring that the customer’s product is delivered on time, as you assist the shipping/receiving department.
  • Assemble containers and crates and pack goods with tape or straps to be shipped as per Albarrie standards and to minimize shipping damage.
  • Affixes identifying information and shipping instructions such as labels, and markings and ensures the information is accurate.
  • Operates hand trucks and dollies to load, unload, transport, and store goods as per operating and safety standards.
  • Responsible for picking, packaging, and shipping out of all resale items to customers, as required.
  • Support the quality inspection area by assembling boxes, palletizing, and staging in the shipping/receiving department. Keep the area stocked with boxes and skids at all times.
  • Assisting all departments within the manufacturing facility as required by the Manufacturing Manager.
Mental Effort Required to Perform the Job:
  • Frequent mental attentiveness when working in the manufacturing plant. 
  • Frequent mental attentiveness when reviewing and packing customer orders. 
  • Occasional listening is required when being given instructions from the
    Manufacturing Manager or Production Coordinator. 
Physical Effort Required to Perform the Job:
  • Regularly standing and walking for long periods of time. 
  • Manual dexterity is required. 
  • Frequently lifting and bending. 
  • Must be able to move and pick up 50 lbs. by self.
Responsibility for Resources:
  • Responsible for work area and workflow within assigned tasks and
    responsibilities. 
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and communicating with the Manufacturing
    Manager and Production Coordinator regularly on any areas of concern.
Responsibility for Decision Making:
  • Determining appropriate packing and shipping methods.
Working Conditions:
  • Moderate exposure to extreme heat during the summer months. 
  • Moderate exposure to cold drafts from the plant doors during the winter months. 
  • Moderate exposure to dusty and dirty conditions. 
  • Exposed to a moderate to high level of noise from machinery. 
  • Occasional exposure to a high level of noise and fumes from equipment and
    trucks.
