Toxic dust and hot embers are known enemies in industrial plants where combustion is an issue. Particulate matter in applications with harsh chemicals such as silica, minerals, or metal oxides that wreak havoc on industrial air filtration equipment and filter bags. Not only are you combating toxic, sticky dust, but hot embers are going into the baghouse. These embers create tiny holes in the filter bags that become a hazard to operations and eventually costing time and money.

This unique filter bag is created by combining the basalt scrim with standard filtration fibers such as P84® or PPS to suit your application or needs. The result is superior filter bag performance. Meteor™ filter bags are ideally suited where high temperatures and humidity are present, with an increased risk of fire or dust combustion.

SPARK-RESISTANT BASALT SCRIM

Basalt is made from molten volcanic rock, making the material highly durable and naturally fire-resistant. Its fibers remain undamaged and tied together during fire exposure. It maintains its material properties and doesn’t release harmful gasses. Since Basalt doesn’t burn, it protects the equipment and filter bags from burning.

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE

Chemical attacks are one of the top reasons baghouse filters fail. Temperature and humidity fluctuations, as well as the by-product of the burn, affect the gas stream’s chemical makeup. Producers who change their process or equipment will often see a change in their gas stream’s chemical makeup, which causes chemical attacks. The fibers employed in Albarrie’s specialty filter bags are highly resistant to a broad range of chemicals, helping producers improve filter bag life.

MECHANICAL STABILITY

Successful air filtration means no emissions. Mechanical stability in baghouse filter bags is critical to successful air filtration. Excessive particulate loads in the gas stream can impact the filter bags and the baghouse cleaning system, causing abrasion. Good quality filter bags must resist abrasion to keep emissions at bay. Albarrie uses the highest quality fibers with high abrasion-resistant properties to produce our specialty filter bags, so your baghouses can remain emissions-free.
