COMPOSITE FABRICS

Composite fabrics are manufactured by combining two fibers into a single material to enhance a fabric’s performance properties – improved abrasion resistanceflexibilitytensile strengthchemical resistance, etc. The automotive industry uses composite fabrics to create car components, such as acoustic controlinsulationseatstrim, and flooring

Albarrie manufactures composite fabrics in two ways: using a bicomponent fiber (two polymers created as one fiber) or blending two different fiber types to create a single material. Albarrie manufactures lightweight composite nonwoven technical fabric with various fibers, blending/layering, and treatment options.

  • Fiber Blending
  • Bicomponent Fibers
  • Resin Impregnated Fabrics
  • Rigid Felt Boards & Tubes

FABRICS FOR SPORTS & RECREATIONAL PRODUCTS

Albarrie’s nonwoven technical fabrics can be used to construct sporting and recreational equipment for reinforcement or as a substrate for epoxy resin construction of composite materials.

Canoes and Kayaks

Lightweight Kevlar® felts are used in manufacturing many of today’s popular brands of canoes and kayaks. Kevlar® technical fabrics are laminated in layers to the hulls of the boats for improved impact resistance against rocks and other obstacles in the water. Kevlar® is also used for hull repair, with many boat builders offering canoe repair kits containing Kevlar® felt strips and resin to keep boats seaworthy.

Inflatable Boats

The same lightweight Kevlar® used in canoes & kayaks is also in inflatable boats. Reinforced Kevlar® hulls provide the same benefits to inflatables, such as impact resistance. In addition, Kevlar® can be used to improve the tear resistance of the outer shell.

CARPET LEADER

Albarrie’s Carpet Leader filter fabrics are used extensively in the production and dyeing of tufted carpets to equalize the tension and reduce waste from start-ups and changeovers. It also protects the carpet from processing equipment damage. Dyeing uses spray jets to apply dye continuously and evenly across the entire width of the carpet. This method can produce solid and multi-color effects at a reduced cost.

Carpet Leader fabric is a strong, durable, stretch-resistant, yet economical nonwoven polyester or polypropylene fabric with a woven fabric core used for processing carpets in continuous dyeing. Due to Carpet Leader’s unique nonwoven and woven construction, the fabric resists fraying, allowing it to be easily pinned or secured to stenter frame’s ovens. The fabric’s porous structure enables the dye to pass through, preventing color stains or transfers. Carpet Leader fabrics are available in two stock weights and multiple wide-width formats to fit most processing equipment.

VIRGIN FIBERS

Albarrie uses only 100% virgin fibers.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

Albarrie inspects and tests each order as part of our Quality Assurance program, providing datasheets for weight, thickness, permeability, Mullen burst, and tensile strength according to ASTM standards.
